HEY! i hope you don't mind, but i did a search on quinnipiac on tumblr and came across your page.. i applied to QU for this fall as a journalism/comm major, and i'm actually coming up to see the school this weekend. I'm from trinidad and tobago in the caribbean, and i wanna hear what you have to say about the school.. what is it like? what do you do for fun? how are the facilities? the dorms? the faculty? <3333 thank youuuuu

Hey! I personally love QU so much so I don’t mind at all! I’ve lived on campus all four years and I loved it. Right now I live in a senior dorm at York Hill which is amazing. The student center here, Rocky Top, is absolutely gorgeous, it’s basically a ski lodge. You need check it out when you come visit. The main campus is currently undergoing construction which has been going on forever but will supposedly be done by next fall. But only freshmen and sophomores live there. The freshmen can live in either doubles, quads or suites of eight people. I lived in a quad and I thought it was great even though the thought of putting four girls in one room is kind of scary but they are a decent size and everyone had their own corner so we had our own space.

For fun, there are lots of things to do. The most important thing I can tell you wherever you go, is to get involved. There are so many different clubs and greek life that there’s really no reason not to. It gives you an excuse to get out and meet a lot of different people. There are always events going on during the week and on the weekends. Quinnipiac puts a lot of money into organizations that program events for the campus, so we try to take advantage of that. My club sponsors bingo, movies, comedians, trivia nights, and other types of events every weekend. Of course, you can always find parties on campus or there are shuttles that take people to the clubs in New Haven on the weekends. All games are free for students so I go to as many hockey and basketball games as I can. And there’s sleeping giant right across campus which is lovely for a hike in the nicer weather.

As far as academics, I don’t really know much about the school of communications because I’m with the health science majors, but my roommate who just graduated was a journalism major and she seemed to like most of her professors/classes.

There are definitely a lot of stereotypes that exist for people who go to QU. People call us slobcats, stuck up, rich, girls only wear uggs and northfaces etc… which are warranted for some people but certainly not true for everyone. The experience here is whatever you make of it. I’m so glad I chose QU because I met some of the greatest people here and I’m going to miss it so much when I graduate.

Sorry this is a novel! Let me know if you have any more questions! And enjoy your visit!
